Help!

So as some of you may know, I am currently looking for a new laptop to purchase before going to Japan. I wanted some help from everyone in this process. If you could give me your input about the following, it would be great:

1. What laptop do you use? What do you use it for? How is it?
2. What brands and models do you recommend? Why?
3. What brands and models would you recommend staying away from? Why?
4. Have you ever had to deal with customer service/tech support of any company? What was it like (good, bad, average)?

Right now, I'm looking at higher end Dells (XPS), Toshiba, or Lenovo. But any input on any and all computer companies would be appreciated. <3 No, seriously. I'm having a really hard time deciding, and I need to decide very soon.

I have to say... why are a lot of things I'm interested in on Thursday? Seriously. Kouga Yun panel at 11AM, Hetalia gathering at 4PM, Masquerade Ball from 6 to 9PM, and Gurren Lagann movie from 7:30PM.

I'm especially annoyed that Masquerade Ball is on the FIRST DAY. Wtf?

There's also a Comic Book All-Stars gathering at 3PM. I would go, if it weren't the fact that it seems that I'm already going to be carrying around 3 outfits that day.

I'm considering not going to the main events this year. I dunno. There's a VOCALOID panel during Masq, and it's run by someone I kinda know. So I kinda want to go to that. But we'll see.

So I am going to be in Kiryu, Gunma for JET. It's near/in the mountains, so I hope I'm stationed somewhere near civilization, since according to Google Maps, there's schools in some suburban areas and some schools way up in the mountains.

And I'm REALLY hoping that there's internet access, since that's basically going to be my tie to all my friends. And hopefully it's not dial-up. So keep your fingers crossed for me that I'll have a steady way of keeping in contact with you guys. I'd really appreciate it.

In other news, am going to a Halloween party tomorrow. Yes, in May. :D Awesome.

Went to Balboa Park again today~. No pictures I took this because I was more fully in cosplay. That, and we got there late and there weren't as many people around to take pictures of. Everyone was kind of scattered.

Anyway. Wore Lenalee today. Lol, will actually have pictures of that costume now. And I think there were a few "lol wut" shots, especially when taking pictures with Whitney (a_farrier as Kanda.

Oh god, they better not fuck this up because if they do, I will rage so hard. Really, this mangaka's work should get way more recognition in the States then it does right now. She manages to write action without making it really shounen or really shoujo. Although this is actually one of her few pieces that's more drama than anything.

I love this series; I really do. I especially love it because the most attractive character (in terms of personality and looks, in my opinion) is the girl. She is the strongest character and is one of my favorite female characters ever.

I have just discovered that there are people out there in the United States who genuinely don't get why "Jap" is an offensive and racist way to refer to Japanese people.

No, seriously. There are people who say it's "just shorthand". Or that it has the same connotation as "Yank" or "Brit".

Whyyyyyyy.

Today was my JET Program interview. It was quite an experience.

What happened? Well, I ended up being 3 minutes late to the interview despite the fact that I left over and hour early to get there. This was due to a combination of factors, such as traffic, bad directions, getting stuck at every red light, and not being able to find the building once I got there.

Ironically, apparently one of the interviewers was late coming back from break. I don't know if that means anything for me, though.

Still, I tried to perform to the best of my ability at the interview. It wasn't perfect -- far from that, but I tried.

Shit happens. There's no one you can blame for that expect maybe yourself. And now it's over with, and there really isn't anything I can do about it. I'll just have to see how things work out in April, when the results come in. I'm crossing my fingers and hoping that somehow, despite everything, I was able to leave a good impression on my interviewers. I haven't wanted something like I want JET for a very long time.

It would be a lie if I said I wish I had done things differently. That I didn't regret being late. But I also promised myself that I would only allow myself to be angry at myself and sad about the matter during the car ride home. And now that I'm out of the car, I need to focus my attention on other things that need my attention, like Anime Club and my schoolwork.

tl;dr version: I fucked up, but I still tried my best, and I really hope something good will come out of it. But for now, I will not dwell on it and try to focus on other things.
